DESCRIPTION:Obesity is complicated. This metabolic disease has genetic\, environmental and psychological factors\, and is associated with multiple chronic conditions and poorer mental health outcomes. And\, bias and stigma can get in the way of a successful workplace strategy. The economic burden to employers is significant. A new generation of anti-obesity drugs has shifted the treatment landscape\, creating both a challenge and opportunity for employers. Employers attending this session will gain a better understanding of the latest research\, employer best practices and concrete ideas to mitigate costs associated with obesity. \nThis program is available both in-person and virtually. \nUnderstand how: \n\nObesity is often inaccurately characterized as a lifestyle failure instead of a chronic disease\nTreating underlying obesity is imperative to successfully managing chronic conditions and addressing mental health.\nWeight stigma can have significant social\, psychological and physical effects for those living with obesity.\nEmployers can make an educated decision on why and how to cover GLP-1 weight loss medications.\nPlan design can mitigate the economic burden of this metabolic disease.
